In 2004, our maternal grandparents, K V Abraham (Karimpanal Ittirachen) and Grace Abraham (Gracy), generously gifted our parents, a ten-acre coffee plantation – a gesture rooted in love and legacy. Nestled amidst rolling hills and lush greenery, the estate held a special place in our family’s heart. Years later, we decided to honor that legacy by building a serene villa on the property, a space meant for reflection, togetherness, and remembrance. When our beloved grandmother, Grace Abraham, passed away in May 2020 at the age of 85, we chose to name the villa after her, preserving her memory in a place as warm and nurturing as she was. The “Grace Villa” now stands as a tribute to her enduring spirit and the deep roots our family shares with the land.
We are truly grateful to have been able to incorporate doors and windows made of solid teak wood from our ancestral home in Changanacherry into this wonderful villa. That cherished home, lovingly built by our late grandfather Mr. Varkey Thomas (Kuttamperoor Kunjommachen) and in which our Late Grandmonther Rosamma Thomas (Pennamma) gave birth to and raised 12 children, held generations of memories. When it was acquired by the government for the construction of a bypass road, we were heartbroken—but salvaging and reusing these elements has allowed us to carry forward a piece of our heritage. Each door and window now stands not just as a part of this new home, but as a living tribute to the legacy he left behind.
This property was looked after and completely replanted by our father Late Louis Thomas who was very keen on developing this property and building a home in it.
Gracevilla stands as a tribute to our beloved grandparents and parents — the roots from which we grow.
With deep gratitude, we honour their sacrifices, wisdom, and unwavering love.
On this cherished soil, we pledge to toil with purpose and passion,
So that our efforts may one day make them proud, as we build upon the legacy they’ve entrusted to us.
